  • The Chinese military was worried that the United States was trying to goad it into retaliating after a series of “provocations” in the final days of Donald Trump’s administration, a military source has said, before a senior American commander moved to reassure Beijing.
  • A memo submitted to the US Senate last month by General Mark Milley showed that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff had contacted his Chinese counterpart, General Li Zuocheng, in October and January.
