Chinese research wharf being built near largest fishing port on South China Sea

  • China is building its first scientific research wharf in the southern island of Hainan, in its latest effort to boost exploration in the resource-rich South China Sea amid lingering distrust among Southeast Asian neighbours regarding the aims.
  • The Nanshan Port Public Scientific Research Wharf, the first of its kind in China, is now under construction in Yazhou district in Hainan province’s southernmost city of Sanya, according to industry publication China Shipping News.
