Cloud security company Lacework draws $8. 3 billion valuation in private funding round

  • Lacework Inc said Thursday it raised $1.3 billion in Series D growth funding, valuing the San Jose, Calif.-based cloud security specialist at $8.
  • The company said the capital infusion marks "the largest funding round in security industry history.
  • Existing investors Sutter Hill Ventures, Altimeter Capital, D1 Capital Partners, and Tiger Global Management led the Series D round, with participation from new investors including Counterpoint Global (Morgan Stanley [s:ms]), Durable Capital, Franklin Templeton, General Catalyst, and XN.
  • Coatue, Dragoneer, Liberty Global Ventures, and Snowflake Ventures also participated as existing investors.
  • The company plans to pursue strategic acquisitions.
