Coronavirus: Hong Kong hospital chief warns of ‘tsunami-like’ outbreak after Lunar New Year as 8 new cases uncovered on hard-hit housing estate

  • Hong Kong health officials have uncovered eight new preliminary Covid-19 cases on an Omicron-hit public housing estate in Kwai Chung while the head of the city’s public hospitals has warned of a potential “tsunami-like” outbreak following Lunar New Year festivities.
  • The latest cases on Kwai Chung Estate were detected in five blocks of flats, mostly at two previously put under lockdowns for days.
  • Of these, Ying Kwai House accounted for three cases while Yat Kwai House logged two.
