  • As J&J's chief scientific officer and vice chair of the executive committee, Stoffels is in charge of the company's research and product pipeline.
  • He previously ran J&J's pharmaceuticals business.
  • J&J CEO Alex Gorsky announced in August that he is stepping down at the end of 2021.
  • J&J's stock is down 1 0% for the year, while the broader S&P 500 has gained 16.
